Jesus, Christianity and the Church

Are you unclear about what the church is, or what Christianity is all about, or even who Jesus is and why we believe in him?

"Church" is simply the community of people who believe and trust in Jesus - the building is simply where the church meets! But what about Jesus?

Take a look at www.lookingforgod.com as a starting point. The "What about you" page makes 4 simple points:

  1. God loves you and He wants you to know Him.
  2. All of us have done, said or thought things that are wrong. This is called sin. Our sin has separated us from God.
  3. Jesus is God’s only provision for our sin. Through Him we can know and experience God’s love and plan for our life. By giving His life for us, Jesus Christ opened up the only way to friendship with God.
  4. We need to accept Jesus, so we can know and experience God’s love, forgiveness, friendship and plan for our lives.

and then goes on to explain the "so what".

A really good way of finding out more is to join an Alpha course where you can ask as many questions as you like in a relaxed environment . See here for more about Alpha in general, and here for courses running at St. Michael's.
